Loyang base opening, Singapore

On 13 June 2013, Oil Spill Response Limited (OSRL) announced the opening of a new base with enhanced response capabilities in Loyang, Singapore which is now home to the region’s Subsea Well Intervention Service (SWIS) capping stack, developed in collaboration with the Subsea Well Response Project (SWRP).

This new facility was headlined by the media for the valued contribution it will bring to the region and marked a milestone for the maritime and oil and gas industries in Asia Pacific. Located within a dedicated supply facility with wharf access and in proximity to key airports, the new base is strategically placed for OSRL to support an emergency response either by air or sea.

The Loyang base is the second facility opened in 2013 by OSRL, following the launch of the Stavanger base in Norway in March. The remaining SWIS equipment will be delivered to bases in South Africa and Brazil later this year, allowing for swift mobilisation around the world. Industry response to the equipment has been very positive, with 18 subscribers to-date covering in excess of 500 subsea wells.
